Chemin de Fer Development

[ English ]

Blackjack is possibly one of the more favored games participated in, in casinos. Black jack is also referred to as 21 or Chemin de Fer. The game is a mix of chance and skills combined with decision-making. The card game has evolved over a set amount of time. Players have specialized in certain abilities like "card card counting," with which they turn the odds of the game in their favor. The game has been around since the 18th century. References can be located in historical scriptures to a card game referred to as "vingt-et-un," which in French means 21, and is thought of as the precursor to black jack.

The card game was initially not very popular in the states. This caused the betting houses attempting various things like providing a bonus in case of a 10-to-1 pay out, if the blackjack player was dealt a "black" jack and an ace of spades. The jack could be either clubs or spades. Once the card game became well-known, the bonus pay out soon disappeared from the rules.

Any hand which achieves a value of 21 is considered a winner. The value should not go beyond twenty one, if it does the hand is said to be "bust." The target of every player is to defeat the casino. If the blackjack player and the house both have an identical hand value, it is called "push," with not either the black jack player nor the croupier winning the hand.
